Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy describes how the Furqan mobile applications—Quran, Sarf (صرف), and alQibla—(distributed via the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store) and the related website operated at furqan.app handle information. We designed our apps to respect your privacy. We do not collect personal data.
1. Controller and scope
This policy applies to the Furqan mobile applications—Quran, Sarf, and alQibla—available on Google Play and the Apple App Store and to the marketing website at furqan.app. The apps are published by Furqan ("we", "us", or "our").
We do not collect, process, or share personal data from users of the app or website.
2. Summary
- We do not create accounts or collect analytics.
- No advertising technologies are used.
- Audio recitations and other content may be downloaded when you initiate them.
- All preferences and study materials remain on your device.
3. Information not collected
To use our apps, you do not need to provide personal information. We do not collect:
- Personal identifiers (e.g., name, email address, phone number, precise location).
- Usage analytics (e.g., study activity, feature usage, session duration).
- Device or advertising identifiers (e.g., IMEI, Android ID, IDFA, IP address).
- Cookies or tracking technologies on the app or website.
- Crash diagnostics sent to us or to analytics providers.
If you voluntary contact us, we will use the information you provide only to respond to your inquiry.
4. On-device storage
Our apps store the following items locally on your device:
- Bookmarks and favorites.
- Downloaded audio recitations and content in the app cache.
- Theme, display, and audio preferences (e.g., font size, selected reciter, playback speed).
- Personal notes, highlights, or saved locations you create.
You may delete these items from within the app (where applicable) or by uninstalling the app, which removes locally stored data according to your device's operating system behavior.
5. Platform disclosures (Google Play and Apple App Store)
For our store listings, we disclose the following:
- Data collection and sharing: No data is collected or shared.
- Connectivity: Downloads of audio recitations occur via HTTPS only when initiated by the user. No identifiers are attached to these requests.
- Account sign-in: Not required.
- Compliance: We follow Google Play Developer Program Policies, the Families Policy (where applicable), and Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines.
If policies or regulations change, we will update our disclosures and this policy before releasing any build that affects privacy behavior.
6. Third-party services
Our apps do not include third‑party analytics, advertising, social SDKs, or crash reporting. Network requests are limited to user‑initiated downloads of content from reputable sources (such as EveryAyah.com or Quran.com for audio recitations). Those providers may log standard server information necessary to deliver files. We do not provide them with any identifiers beyond what is technically required to serve the download.
The website is static. It does not use analytics pixels or cookies.
7. Security and permissions
- All downloads use encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Our apps request only the minimal permissions necessary for their functionality (e.g., Internet access, storage/cache access, and location access for alQibla). Each app requests only the permissions it needs.
- Where applicable, source code is available for community review.
8. Children's privacy
Our apps are suitable for a general audience and may be used by children under appropriate supervision (for example, using family sharing). Because no personal data is collected, our apps are consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and comparable child privacy laws in other regions.
9. Your rights
We respect the rights provided by privacy laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Brazil’s LGPD. Because we do not collect personal data:
- There is no server‑side data about you to access, export, or delete.
- You control all information stored locally on your device.
- Uninstalling the app removes the app’s local data.
10. Data retention and deletion
We do not retain personal data on servers. Locally stored items (e.g., bookmarks, notes, downloads) remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect feature improvements or legal requirements. When a change affects privacy behavior, we will update the “Last updated” date, publish the revised policy, and update relevant store disclosures before releasing the new build.
